FIRST COMMUNITY TARGET: Improve the literacy rate
Standing Together
It takes a collective effort to create community-wide solutions to our literacy challenges. UNITED for LITERACY brings people together in purpose and the resources and expertise necessary for real progress. Through partnerships and collaboration, UWRRV is uniquely positioned to lead an innovative, comprehensive approach to literacy for our county.
With the objective of sharing and reinforcing proven literacy development techniques, our vision for a successful regional literacy initiative requires a multi-pronged approach. UNITED for LITERACY will make a lasting change because it helps children build necessary reading skills.
Our Shared Goals
Collective Impact. It’s the way UWRRV seeks to address community-wide issues by working with others on shared goals.
Together, we will:
- Raise Awareness and educate the community about Winnebago County’s literacy crisis.
- Ensure every child enters kindergarten ready to read.
- Ensure every child is reading proficiently by the end of third grade.
- Establish a sustainable system that supports and builds capacity for ongoing literacy success.
Our Partners
Our UNITED for LITERACY collaborators and funded partners not only share our vision of breaking the cycle of generational poverty beginning with early literacy support but also generously support the work through their investments of time, counsel, and support.
Their support will enable our success. Working collectively and collaboratively with the school systems, education-based organizations, children’s services, and non-profit agencies, we utilize our combined strengths and resources to support children in school, out of school, and through their caregivers. This strategy creates community-wide alignment, so all the participating agencies align their strategies to achieve the same goal.
The programs funded by UNITED for LITERACY work with four key audiences who directly influence a child’s academic success.
- Children
- Providers
- Parents
- Community
We are pleased to work with these engaged community collaborators.
