SUMMARY:Hart Interim Library: Rockford Public Library Literacy Corner
DESCRIPTION:Soap\, Suds\, and Stories: Early Literacy at the Laundromat!\nLaundromat Libraries would be an outreach program that increases access to children’s books and promotes the development of early literacy skills for children and families who visit participating local laundromats. Each laundromat library would contain diverse\, high interest books in English\, Spanish\, Arabic\, Karen (Burmese)\, French\, and Swahili for children ages 0-8. \nFamilies are invited to read while at the laundromat and browse parent resources provided by RPL. \nAdditionally\, a scheduled activity with RPL Staff every other week will occur. As the program develops\, the activity schedule can change frequency based on the specific neighborhood’s need. \n
